Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever.
Heaven Can Wait has a very special program, called Pups on Parole. Residents from the Florence McClure Women’s Correctional Facility provide rehabilitation and training to these dogs. Pups On Parole has changed the lives of many homeless dogs, as well as the women who, while helping the dogs, help to heal themselves.
Some of the dogs who enter the program have lost their trust in people, as they have been traumatized, neglected, and, in some cases, abused. At the prison, these dogs are given time to heal and re-gain their confidence in humans. The dogs live alongside their caretakers the entire time they are at the prison. The residents get them ready to live with a family of their own. Over the course of their time at the facility, each dog learns to walk on a leash, is housebroken, and learns basic commands.
Presently we have several dogs waiting for loving homes. Please take a look at these amazing dogs here.
If you are interested in meeting one of these special dogs, you can meet them on
