The Sad
Faces of Abandonment
Recently, Heaven Can Wait along with the Las Vegas
Valley Humane Society became aware of a very sad
situation involving some very sad cats. From the
horrible neglect of medical issues to malnourishment and
lack of attention, the basic love that these little ones
all deserved was nowhere to be found. They didn't
deserve what happened to them, but it still happened
nonetheless. And what happened, you ask?
It all started with a phone call from the owner of the
cats to another local animal group. She said that
she would be abandoning the cats and was aware that they
would most likely be taken to the shelter to be put
down.

At that point, HCWS and LVVHS were contacted to help,
and together they went to check out the situation.
When they arrived they found upwards of 60 cats left
behind to fend for themselves in a chained off area
behind the garage separate from the main house.
The situation was desperate.

The two groups started pulling out the cats that were
more "people friendly" and have continued to do so to
this day. In total, HCWS has rescued 36 so far.
Most of those taken-in have needed medical attention,
socialization, and some much needed food.

Fortunately, those we have been dealing with have shown
signs of improvement, but we are not out of the woods
yet. There are still around 30 cats left that are
still running around all by themselves at the location,
and time is running out.

If you are interested in possibly adopting or fostering
any of these cats who were left behind on their own to
die, please call Heaven Can Wait at 702-227-5555.
Or if you'd like to make a donation to help cover the
costs of their care please
click here. Your love and appreciation will be the
best thing that has ever happened to them.
